The School

Swing By is a dance school based in Dublin and dedicated to swing dances. We offer progressive Lindy Hop and Solo Jazz classes in small groups, Drop-in Classes and Social Dance. We provide happiness through the joy of dance!

Our goal is the development of a great swing dance scene in our city. We are just starting our flight and we are looking forward to have you on board.

Who We Are

Aida discovered swing dance in Barcelona in 2014, when she saw a group of lindy hoppers dancing outdoors. She thought it was absolutely amazing and she just understood that she needed to learn it. She has taken classes of Lindy Hop, Solo Jazz, Blues, Balboa, Shag and Tap and she enjoys travelling for international workshops and dance festivals. She loves the music and the social aspect of the dance.

In 2017, she started to work in an idea that she called Swing By. Thanks to the work and support of our teachers, dancers & many others, this idea became a reality!

Aida will be organising Swing By's activities. Check our section Meet the Teachers to learn about them.

Swing music is a form of popular music developed in the United States. It has roots in the 1920s and it dominated in the 1930s and 1940s. Swing bands usually featured soloists who would improvise on the melody over the arrangement.

Solo Jazz is danced without a partner and it can be danced free and improvised or in routines such as Shim Sham. It looks like this:
